- setup an NewsBreak campaign in NewsBreak ads manager
- setup the Postback URL tracking to have CPV Lab and NewsBreak connected

Setup in CPV Lab | CPV One
Here is a step by step guide on how to track an NewsBreak campaign with CPV One (opens new window) and CPV Lab (opens new window). The process is the same for both.
Step 1: Setup NewsBreak in CPV Lab | CPV One
- CPV Lab Pro comes with the NewsBreak Traffic Source pre-configured in the Traffic Sources Catalog pages, so in this case all you have to do is import it from the Catalog.
- The detailed configuration for the NewsBreak Traffic Source is the following:
The Postback URL from NewsBreak has the following format: http://business.newsbreak.com/tracking/attribute?callback={!tscode!}&event_type=sale&nb_value={!revenue!}}
Once you import the traffic source from the catalog, it will show up when you create your campaign on the Campaign setup page.
Once you have the Traffic Source setup you can start creating your campaign.
Step 2: Create a Campaign in CPV Lab | CPV One
- Go to Campaigns menu ➡️ Add New Campaign
- Select the Campaign Type you need, based on your funnel (either direct link and landing page campaign, lead capture and optin, multiple paths, etc).
- In the campaign setup page:
- General settings: here pay attention to the custom tracking domain you want to use
- Tracking Settings: fill all the settings and select the Data Options you want tracked
- Macros and Tokens: select NewsBreak as the Traffic Source and choose the Predefined Extra Tokens that you want to capture from this ad network.
- Also, you can select if you want to track Bot and Proxy traffic.
- Select the Landing pages you want to use for this campaign (if you use landing pages)
- Select the offers you will promote
- Save the Campaign
- Get the Campaign URL from the Links & Pixels section
TIP
Note: The Postback URL will be automatically called to send information about conversions to NewsBreak. CPV Lab will call the Postback URL every time a conversion is registered and will inform the ad network about it. This is useful in order for the ad network to optimize the targeting algorithm.
Important: if you don't want to send information about conversions back to the ad network, then you can uncheck the "Use Traffic Source Postback URL to mark conversions at your Traffic Source".
Setup in NewsBreak
Below are all the steps required to setup the campaign in NewsBreak.
Step 3: Create an event
Login to your NewsBreak account
Before creating a campaign, you need to select or define the events you want to track.
Select "Postback" for "event tracking type"
Go to "Event Management" menu and add a new event
There are multiple predefined events available, like:
- "add to cart"
- "add to whishlist"
- "Complete payment"
- "subscribe"
- "submit form", etc
Also you can define your own event.
- After selecting CPV Lab as a tracking system you need to test the Postback.
- You need to copy the Camapign URL from CPV Lab and paste it in the Test URL form
- Simulate a conversion on your landing page and the test in Newsbreak should be succesful
- In case the Postback will not fire, check the Postback Log in CPV Lab to check the cause.
Step 4: Create the campaign in NewsBreak
- Go to "Ad Management" menu to create a new campaign
- Click on the "Create my first ad" button
- Step1: Create the campaign
- Complete the name and objective fields from step 1
- Click on "Save and Next"
- Step2: Create a new ad set
- Give a name for the ad set, choose the events you want to track, placements, demographics, etc.
- You need to define an event before if you don't have one. And choose CPV Lab as a tracking system.
- this event you define for your ad, will be used in the Postback URL called by the tracker as well
- Give a name for the ad set, choose the events you want to track, placements, demographics, etc.
- Setup your daily budget and all the other mandatory fields
- Step3: Create a new ad
- Fill all the fields, creatives, etc and click "Submit"
Step 5: Start the campaign in NewsBreak
- In NewsBreak platform, by default, after it is created, the campaign is sent to verification and the status will be updated every 5 minutes.
- Make sure you payment method is filled before starting the campaign with NewsBreak.
- The campaign should be "On"
Step 6: Postback tracking with CPV Lab | CPV One
When tracking your NewsBreak campaigns with CPV Lab or CPV One it is easy to integrate the tracker via Postback URL.
In order to optimize a NewsBreak campaign a good approach is to send conversions to the ad network
- this will allow the NewsBreak algorithm distribute your ads to more relevant audiences
You can send back information obout any type of event you consider from your campaign.
CPV Lab can sends automatically conversions back to the traffic source, server to server, via Postback URL
It can also send a specific percent of the conversions, based on what you need.
